I have always liked the K&N, but the True Flow extra heavy duty intake has a larger opening and I believe will flow more air. Whatever I get it will be flowing through new headers, Free flowing cats, and a Magnaflow 5x8 muffler that is a 14'' body. The FM50 I have sounds great, but its too restrictive and I think that Magnaflow will sound awesome with that set up!
I had a true flow intake on my truck, and for my hemi it made a difference. I was happy with it, just wanted the KN and found a great deal on one. Actually,i just took my trueflow off last week. very well made, was a perfect fit on my truck.

Just out of curiosity... Did you have the standard true flow kit or the XDI intake? And when you switched to the K&N 57 was it almost a night and day switch for you?

Im going to vote for other. I like using the brands that arent as popular, but still get the same results and numbers. I did a search when looking for an intake for my 4.7 (2004), and I almost went with the AFE stage 2. Then I found the spectre intake offered by airram.

Heres the link...
http://www.airram.com/product.php?ca...&productid=736

I gained significant MPGs, a little smoother acceleration, and a wicked sound at all throttle positions. Especially when the motor is cold, loud as hell! I love it...

BTW... $160, free shipping...

mine was the MIT tube that used the stock filter box, with a KN drop in filter. I havent drove the truck much since i switched intakes, but im happy with the KN intake so far. much louder than the trueflow, and im not sure if im gonna like that on longer tow trips, but we will see how it goes.

Well after doing some more research I am leaning towards the True Flow XDI. On the 08 ram 6.7L it puts out 26rwhp + 63rwtq versus the comparable K&N which was 20rwhp + 43RWTQ. I saw one on the hemi that indicated that the True Flow was a bit higher on as well. I think I am going to order that one. It should go well with the free flowing magnaflow spun cats and with the Magnaflow 5x8 (14'' body DOR) muffler that I am going to purchase. Just hearing this video made me want to change from my FM50 series to the Magnaflow... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwDOF...om=PL&index=18 That and it will actually flow straight trough, unlike my chambered FM50.

where are you getting these numbers at?? those are not even close... my kn only says about 12hp at like 5500 rpm. there is no way an intake adds 26hp

I have an airraid on my truck and I love the sound.. Especially with the magnaflow cat back at WOT.. I voted for other cause ive never looked into the true flow and I read alot of diesel forums and those guys never go with K&N cause they dont filter as well and cause dusting on the turbos.. so for that reason i just stay away from all K&N.. AFE is supposed to be the best..

You are partially right... There is no way a CAI can add 26hp on a gas engine; however, those were dynoed on a 6.7L Dodge Cummins Diesel. Just a bit more airflow running through those puppies to spool the Turbo. Those two numbers were the K&N cai vs. the XDI based off the cummins 6.7. As I said as well the hemi shows almost 11rwhp for the K&N (according to K&N) and the XDI shows around 15rwhp.

I have the K&N 57 series and i love it. I did the drop in K&N thing on my old ford and it helped, but nothing like the full CAI. Yes it does sound good, but its almost instant power/gas savings. I bought it when gas was $4 a gallon so it paid for itself in savings

By the way, it makes you sound like you have a turbo...just sayin
