Its on......
Nope it wasn't a stock setup to begin with, thats my borla catback that we had to splice into and adjust. To get that one piece of pipe off (it was just clamped in place) we had to damn near take the whole system off piece by piece.
Well if 1 = the easiest and 10 = the hardest, For everything we had to do to get it on and wired, I would give it around a 7. We had to pull apart the whole catback system to get the one piece we were going to mount it to off, the had to modify both the catback pipe and cutout pipe to fit together, weld everything up (the catback pipe was alot thinner than the cutout pipe so it was alot of spot welds to make one solid weld all the way around), then the wiring was way to short so there was alot of splicing to get it long enough, the cig lighter was a royal pain to pop out and then I basically had to destroy the damn thing to get just the black molding piece off, then we had to piece the catback bac together (another fun tast since it took us forever to pull the damn thing apart), then we push the button for the first time and relize that the valve is hitting a weld that they did and wouldn't open, so we were under the truck with a dremle grinding it down little by little and everytime we would get one weld out of the way it would open a little further and hit another, We finally just added a second gasket and it cleared. So it wasn't as easy as what all you guys with your quad cabs have it. I would believe if you have a quad cab and a straight length of pipe it be more like a 3 or 4.
Ah the switch.... If I could have found a different switch to use it would have gone elsewhere but apparently a momentary ON-OFF-ON switch is the hardest thing in the world to find without special ordering one. The guys at the elctronics shops just looked at me like I was crazy for even asking about one. But I dont mind its location now and the button doesn't bother me as much as when it wasn't on the truck so its fine (plus the cig lighter is completely demolished so I cant put it back it even if I wanted to)
oh ok yea on mine it would be a straight pipe that i would just have to cut out and replace with the flowtech. if you had that much problems with the cig lighter im wondering if it is even worth putting it there. i might just put it next to my hellas switch...
Well the assembly popped out fairly easily but to get the black plastic molding off of the thing is what frustrated the hell out of me. It "should" have just slid off once the holes were lined up but it didn't it fought me every step of the way unit I just gave up on trying to salvage the guts. Its actually a nice location to have it.
Nope just took a pair of channel locks and grabbed the metal piece and started wiggling it out until it popped out, the plug and wires were attached so it just took a few quick cuts and you had your power and ground right there, then took some welding wire and fished the other wires for the cutout through the dash made wiring it really easy. You may need a second set of hands though, the wires that came out with the cig lighter were only about 2.5-3" long so cutting and splicing into them wasn't to fun.
I use to think that the 4.56 gears was my best mod, and while the cutout doesn't have as much of an impact as far acceleration goes, I think its my new favorite. I had it opened up for a while today since last night i really didn't get to play with it a whole lot after we finished it up and it sounds so flipping awsome!! At idle its barely noticeable just a slightly deeper rumble than my borla system but you hit that pedal and open her up and damn!!! Sounds like a stock car flying down the road!! You get a whole lot of looks though, some good... some bad.... All and all though its nice
