I'm gonna spray a coat of clear flat tomorrow, then the tires will get cleaned haha, they were with the white letters out for over a year, but when I put the wheels on I had to flip em. Would have looked rediculous

did you give them a good sanding or did you just scuff them up?? they look incredible.. Ive been waitin to see some of the 17s painted, ive been holding off on mine, I was thinking of just leaving the strips in the middle of the 5 spokes the original aluminum look.. Looks great man.. good job!

I really appreciate all of the positive feedback, they were freebies from my boss's mom so I knew if I messed up, I would care that much. But I sanded them down using a 220g sandpaper, I started with a 150g but that was to aggressive. The area between the spokes was a textured like surface so I HAD to sand them good, then just cleaned em up, I recommend buying a tack cloth ($1.14 at Wal Mart in the paint department) before spraying anything, but after a cloth and coat of acetone to get any access dirt or grease.

I picked up a good tip from a buddy, if your painting the wheels with tires on and to avoid overspray and to get the rim a good coat, place index cards between the wheel and the tire, so you can really get in there. I didnt have that issue because they were loose from the tires.

I get in my truck now and have to stop....look....smile.... continue in route.

So just 220g did the trick then eh.. I was planning on leaving the middle so thatll save me some sanding work.. Good tip with the cards to.. i didnt think of that, very usefull cause ill be spraying them with the tires on still.. Sorry if you said already but how many coats did you do?

I sprayed 3 coats of the self etching primer (for the little nicks) then 2 coats of the paint I do believe. A little more advice though, if your going to section parts off for contrast and what not, have patience and know that each one is most likely going to come out different, I'm just happy that I decided to leave the lugs and center gray/silver, makes the wheels pop a little more.

As soon as I can find the wire for my digital I'll upload pictures of the process. Over all took about 5 hours to do, I didnt' do it all at once, but the sanding, cleaning, spraying, waiting, then letting the paint cure.

Yah i really like the look of the silver lugs and center.. I was gonna do them all black like yours but decided to leave the strips from the lugs out.. i figure if it doesnt look good after the first coat of black then ill paint them.. its easier to not do it first.. rather then think about it after they are all painted black.. did you use any special paint or just regular flat black?

This isnt my picture... and I just used their flat black. I bought 2 cans of the self Etching primer and then 2 of the "Industrial Sized" cans of flat black, they were $2.69 a piece, can't really argue that.
