This is my first DIY so yea. I know there are a BUNCH of threads about this, but none of them gave me a clear answer or instructions on how to fix my problems so maybe this will help someone. It got dark so I couldnt take pictures but I made this sweet picture!

2- 4700µF 35V 20% Axial-Lead Electrolytic Capacitor

1- Pack of 16-14 Gauge Blue Interior Disconnect and T-Tap Connector Combo with Male Connectors

Price at Autozone: $7.99

Heres a drawing I made showing the actual H.I.D. kit wiring harness:


1. Plug on H.I.D. kit that plugs into factory wiring harness
2. Positive (+) Lead coming from said plug
3. Negative (-) Lead coming from said plug
4. T- tap connectors in place on positive and negative leads
5. Crimped male fitting on the T-tap connectors
6. Capacitor in place with directional arrows going from positive (+) to negative (-).

Steps:
1. Start by locating the positive and negative wires coming from the plug that goes into the factory connector. (SEE FIGURE 1)
2. Then crimp in the T-Tap connectors. (SEE FIGURE 2)
3. Then crimp the wires from the capacitor into the male connector that came with the T-tap kit.
4. Then with the arrows on the capacitor going from positive (+) to negative (-), plug them into the female end of the T-Tap connector. (SEE FIGURE 3)
5. Hook H.I.D. kit up and enjoy!

If you have any questions/comments, post here. I tried this on 3 different Rams and it fixed all of my H.I.D. problems.

 

Thats to much just buy a kit that works perfect like mine!

 

Its super easy and I only paid $60 for my kit. Have had the same kid (only 9004) on my DD Dakota for 3 years with no problems.

 

I only paid $80 for fogs and headlights

 

where did you get your head and fog hid's for $80.00? also the connectors you got does that fix the high/low beam issue?

 

Good write up. Dont worry about some of the responses you get on this thread. 2/3rds of the people on here dont know what a capacitor is let alone what it does. As for the 1/3rd thats left only about half of them know what a cap is and when you ask them what it is and what it does they say "Its that big battery lookin thing that keeps my headlights from dimmin when my bass hits" But there are some here that understand. I am glad Im not the only nerd hangin around here...

 

Haha thanks Alpheus. I just made this to try and help those who had the same problem as me but couldn't find a solid answer. I saw so many fixes with resistors and capacitors but no one really told where to put them or they talked about making a new wiring harness.

 

I Installed a 9007 High/Low HID kit on my 2004 Ram, I have HID on the low beam and a small halogen bulb for the high beam. Easy istallation, no modifications, no lamp out, no wire harness requiered, bulbs connect to ballasts and factory bulb connectors, plug and play (no flickering), if you need more information, feel free to send me a message

 

There are Cancellor fix kits all pre-wired and factory connectors for $25 shipped each pair on Ebay. I'm a wire guy myself, but when it comes time...I'll just buy the premade kit.

Nice write up for those who want to save some pennied or have the excitement of doing it themselves. I'm just too old for that crap..lol

 

Hi: all information available is good on this fix or any topic that might help anyone, in any way. I got my HID kit from ebay, seller Kila407, had a variety of items, including decoders and other accessories, at a very good price, I hope this information helps,
