Electronic Throttle Control Nightmare
Hello folks,
I am having awful trouble with my recently purchased 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie (4x4) Hemi.
Under hard acceleration the electronic throttle control (ETC) light flashes (looks like 2 parallel lines with a electric sign in the middle), then the gauges go crazy, with the check gauge light flashing, and it gets worse, the engine loses all power and goes into some form of "limp mode" where the rev counter refuses to go above 1400rpm and it forces you to pull over. Scary stuff when doing 70mph on the highway and the engine starts to cut out. Or even scarier when it happens when turning left at the lights.
Luckly my ram is still under manufacturers extended warranty but 3 trips to my dodge dealer and still not fixed!!!!
Sofar it has had:
1. Full computer reprogram
2. New throttle sensor installed
3. Brand new throttle body installed.
Picked it up at lunch time today and 5 mins down the road and it happens again, I return to the dealer, livid............. Now I am being told it maybe an electrical wiring issue or power train control module. I don't think these guys know what is wrong.
Anybody else have this issue, but more importantly get this issue resolved?
JP
