Wow, Torque is quite good on the 4.7 - especially low-end where you need it.

if i had to do it again i would definitely go with the hemi. maybe the '08 4.7 is better but the '07 is a dog. i can't even run on flat highway at 70mph in 5th gear without constant downshifting. i have the 3.92s and it has no power at all. i get about 13 in town but pulling my 14x7 enclosed trailer at 3000lbs i get 9 mpg and it stays in 3rd gear. it will never get to 4th or 5th. i pulled it from pittsburgh to indy and back and got 8.5 there and 9.0 back. my step-father has an '08 with a hemi and he gets better mileage than me and way more power.
I got the 4.7 with a few mods, I sure wished i saved a few more pennys and got the hemi. I got the 3.55 gears with a QC, low end torq is awsome. other then that it sucks for power for a big truck Yesterday i towed 5 12-4x4, 50 2x4, 5 sheets of 3\4 plywood 5 sheets of 1/4 and 20 sheets of t111 all in my bed. I had noooo problem gettin anywhere. first gear was just like i had nothing in my bed but around here with the hills i don't think i came out of 3rd anyways just wished i had a hemi.
when i went to dealership there was a hemi (automatic) and 4.7 in (manual) side by side that i qualified for , and lol being that i love manual transmissions, i went with the 4.7! in 2004, the 4.7 has been great, although the nice upgraded 4.7 would of been nice to have! my 2 cents on this , is if you plan highly modding your truck major induction/stroker kits are availble for the hemis , with the 4.7's you dont have a big playing field. overall , if you dont mind the tranny, go with the hemi. i do have a 4.7, that i have modded and i cant complain.
