Default Cruise Control = Kill Switch?!

So I was driving yesterday and when I went to set my cruise I lost everything. The second I turned it on the truck shut off and I lost everything but my radio. I was definetly caught off guard. So I coasted over to the shoulder and got it stopped and when I started it again everything was back and the truck was running normally. I turned around and headed home and set my cruise a few times along the way with no problems. I called the dealership and the mechanic said that it sounds like the computer isn't up to date and needs to be updated. I'm taking it in Thursday so they can check it out. Until then I'm driving our farm truck. I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered this before?

kinda interesting, my cruise wont work if you leave it on when you turn the truck off, the next time you start it it wont work till your turn the truck off again, i think its just an little quirk

Sounds like a short somewhere, but I guess it could be a computer issue.

I took the truck in to the dealership yesterday. The only code that was thrown was showing that the truck have lost contact with the radio, but that's just because I installed an aftermarket radio. So pretty much the mechanics have no idea what caused everything to shut off like that. They said to bring it in if it ever does it again and they will take it to a specialty place.
