The dealership is telling me I have a dusted engine and of course isnt covered by warranty.My #6 220lbs and rest of cylinders are 340 to 350. My question is how do you have a dusted engine with only one bad cylinder.

 

my #4 and 6 were bad, they pulled the engine and rebuilt it under warranty. only those two cylinders/pistons were replaced and/or repaired.

 

Just curious, is 'dusted' the technical term? lol

Anyways, its fixable. I dont see why the dealer doesnt want to fix it. I wouldnt call that a catastrophic failure. There either has to be something else they are considering, such as another factor causing the weak cylinder, or they just want to dick with. I would guess they just dont want to deal with it because warranty and parts issues might be a cluster f*** right now.

 

Those numbers are awfully high for compression check numbers.
What year and engine are you working on?
