Flowmaster Super 44 Impressions
#53
After some thinking, I decided to go with the Flowmaster 50 HD, and am getting it installed tomorrow morning. I had yet to receive my return from the 50 HD, so I figured I'd just have it sent back since I had already accepted not having that money anyways. I like how the 50 series has a 4" internals, and with the three chambers, there should be minimal drone. If for some reason it isn't loud enough, I'll just buy the exhaust cutout when I get the chance. The Super 44 just sucks. It drones terribly, isn't even loud on start-ups, and idles low anyways. Maybe if it was actually loud like my 2nd generation was, then it'd be worth the trade off of the drone, but it does nothing for me.

Meineke installed the Flowmaster 50 HD this morning, and I'm pretty impressed. The start-up sounds exactly like the Super 44 did. As soon as I hit the pedal in the parking lot though, there was a very faint drone unlike the 44. Driving around, there is still quite a bit of drone, but a healthy and necessary drone. The 50 HD sounds as loud as the 44, but without all of the unnecessary drone. I haven't had a chance to drive it down the highway yet, but I'm interested to see if it pretty much goes away at about 65mph. The Super 44 just kept getting louder and louder once I surpassed 65mph. I'm glad I did the swap, I think the 50 sounds very healthy.
