I apologize if this has already been covered but I wasn't sure how to word it so the search function would find something useful.

The problem I am having is that my stereo is staying on after I turn the key off and open the door. Until recently the system worked fine and would keep power to the stereo for up to 15 minutes or until a door is opened like it's supposed to. Now it seems to turn off the stereo system whenever it wants after I get out.

Has anyone run into a problem like this? Any ideas on what could cause it? Any ideas how to fix it without going to the dealer?

 

Is your dome light working normal when you open and close the door? Play around with the door switch and see if your stereo turns off...

 

Do your lights come on when the door is opened? If not, I would check the door switch.

Sounds like the timer has been accidentally changed.

 

The dome light works fine. Comes on when I open the door and goes out after 15 seconds or so like it always has. Where are the door switches on an 07? I haven't seen a normal pin switch in the jamb like most vehicles have

Nope, aftermarket Alpine deck. I've had the truck for almost 2 years, had the stereo installed about a week after I bought it and this is the first time I have had problems like this.

 

Door switches are magnetic now I believe.

I would say to check the wiring of the radio - the radios are always supplied with power to retain memory, but there is a separate trigger that tells the radio when the truck is on or off. I'm guessing that's where your problem is.

 

Yep, with an aftermarket deck it sounds like his HUs constant and switched power wires are both wired to constant to me.
