'serv 4wd' light came on today
2008 Ram 1500, qc, Hemi, 4x4, 20k miles
Today I was sitting in the drive thru car wash waiting for it to finish rinse cycle. The truck is running but I have the transmission in park. I hear a ding and the 'serv 4wd' light is lit on my dashboard. I pull out of the car wash and shut the truck off. Turn in back on and the light is gone. As I am driving home I put the truck in 4wd to make sure it still works properly. The light hasn't came back on.
Any suggestions??????? Should I be worried???
This is the first time I have ever seen this warning lite come on and I have no idea why it came on in the first place.

I forgot my SC programmer can check codes. DTC...does this mean diagnostic trouble code?
Anyway...I plug in my programmer and check the codes, it says - C140C..transfer case motor control circuit high.
Any idea what this is?
Is this why the serv4wd lite came on?

I'm not sure what that means but I would guess maybe something got wet?? I don't know but I would clear the codes by unhooking your battery and see if it comes back under different circumstances, like not in the car wash. If nothing else I'll bump this back to the top and maybe someone else will chime in with more help. Good luck.
Just reset it with your tuner. No need to unhook the battery.
The undercarriage spray obviously sprayed water into the connector. It must not be sealed very good. You can take it to the dealer and they will tell you that they can't duplicate the problem or you can take some clear silicon and put it around the plug where the wires go into the plug.

I figured that the water was the culprit. This is the first time it has happened and it doesn't seem to have affected the truck any.
lxman.....I will clear the code with the tuner.
What connector am I looking for? Where would it be located?
