I have a 2007 1500 Mega Cab that I purchased new in 2/09. Yes it was on the lot of a small rural dealer 4 minutes from my house for almost two years. He is now on the closing list from Chrysler. The dealership has been a family business for over 80 years!
Anyway, I purchased the Mega Cab to tow a camper that weighs in at about 6,000 lbs loaded and is 30 feet long.
I have the 3.73 rear end with 4,500 miles on the ODO. I have been getting about 12.5 mpg in mixed driving. Towing the camper in the flat region I live in, I have been getting between 7-9 mpg. Of course the diesel would be a better option, but for towing 10-12 times per year and using it as a daily driver for my short commute to work it is the best truck for me. Just wish my small local dealer would not have been on the Chrysler hit list.
