Default opinions on 1500 megacab. Please fill in

Ok so heres the deal, my uncle wants to sell me his 2006 1500 megacab slt, 4wheel drive hemi for a really low price around $15,000-$19,000. Now I have a 2003 quad cab hemi slt 4x4 and everything that needs body work and i was thinking of putting a mild lift on it with 35" tires i would put around $5,000 into it.. Which truck would be worth putting money into. If I got the mega cab my current truck would go to my little brother.

Now the megacab has a 6" fabtech lift with black 20" wheels and procomp extreme A/Ts. My plans for that truck "if i got it" would be to re-gear, tint, BFG A/T's, and a system. The truck has 20,000 miles and has never been offroad and is currently just a daily driver. As far as the truck itself goes, What could I do to make the gas milage actually reasonable beside gears?

Please give your opinions on what you all would do in this situation.

Also i forgot to mention, I have been driving the truck recently and it has the Death Wobble. Now the front tires are shot with barely any tread from either the crappy procomp tires or just really bad alignment while the rears are still brand new with close to full tread left. I feel the death wobble is cuased by the tires and alignment. I also was wondering for being a hemi, how good would it pull a 25ft toyhauler uphills power wise.

You need 4:56 gears. That will improve mileage and low end power, especially with those size of tires...

Rider, I say go for it. I just got my '06 Mega Cab 4x4 SLT about a month ago. I love it. The mileage does kinda suck compared to my dad's '04 Cummins, but it's not that bad for a gasser with that much room. Post some pics when you can.

If you don't need the room i'd just keep the quad cab...mega cab hemi's are dog**** slow and get horrible mileage

Then there's that dude that gets 15-19mpg towing a 9500lb trailer in the hills of Wyoming with his gasser hemi, oh wait, that's me

Course I don't have 20" wheels, lower gears, or a lead foot.

I certainly don't consider it slow either!

Since these trucks are so darn cheap these days, I'd almost say 19k would be too much, even with all that added "goodness", 15k-17k would sound good though.

And just to vent, why the heck put on a lift and massive wheel/tire combos when you aren't gonna use them? If apperances are that important, go date Britney Spears. Don't waste functionality for looks, it's a waste of time/money/resources.
