Another heater core question
I have a 02 1500 with a 4.7 and a ton of miles (245,000) there is a sweet smell when I turn on the heater. There are no noticible antifreeze leaks. Can I assume this is comming from the core or should I look somewhere else. Thanks for the help

Changed the core last week and I cant belive how easy it went. Only took about 5 1/2 hrs. Cant belive dealers get that much to change it out. Total cost of repair..Core $65..Antfreeze $10... and beer $12. I think that is a pretty big savings
Good deal. did it fix your problem?
My Explorer started having a sweet smell. i knew right away it was antifreeze. i looked it over and the actuator valve that controls heat flow in the engine compartemtn is barealy dripping coolant on my manifold. I actually thought the smell was the heater core. That valve is gonna stay dripping too. Aint hurtin a thing!
The two hoses that go into the firewall are cut in half before the firewall. There is this actuator that is put in between the lines that is vacuum driven. it controls the heat coolant flow for the amount of heat you want. just incase anyone was wondering WTF I was talking about.
