Any truck with IFS can't run anything bigger than 35s without breaking suspension components constantly. A truck with a SFA could run 37+ with the right setup.

I personally wouldn't run anything larger than 33s with the 4.7L, unless you spent the money to regear to 4.56s. The 4.7 just doesn't have the low end torque you need. As far as mileage goes, if you're worried about it, why are you driving a V8 truck?

Actually the low-end tq of a 4.7 is pretty close to that of a 5.7. The big differance is when you get to use the mid-high end horsepower to pull away from us. We will stay up with you until about 45mph and then it is over from there on out. And 35's shouldn't be much of a problem with the 4.7 if you have 3.92 gears. I am running them in an 05 QCSB 4x4 4.7 and am currently getting mid 16's for gas with a 40/60 mix of town vs. 50mph zones. I have put 298.8 miles on this current tank and I have just dipped below the 3/8's marker. The 4.7 will have plenty enough to turn 35's w/3.92 gears. After all the 35's only weigh 10 more pounds than the 33's.

And just remember it is your truck and your money, which in my book gives you the power to do whatever mods you want to do to it. Many people said you can only do 35's with a level + BL combo, but Dodgenitto proved that wrong when he did it and put 37x13.5x20 mud grapplers on his truck. Some of the coolest trucks we have seen has been done by people that were ridiculed or told that they were not able to do it. It's your's and only your's so do what makes you happy and proud of it. Just my .02.

im not so much worried about it, like u said i bought the v8, and i havent driven anything less than an 8 since i was 19. losing a couple miles per gallon isnt that big of a deal to me, i just wanted to make sure i'm not spending several thousand $ on something that's gonna cut my MPG damn near in half

thanks. sometimes i feel like im being flamed for my ideas lol. im all new to this truck stuff. this is my first truck, ive driven nothing but muscle and luxury for the past 15 yrs or so, so i guess im a bit of a greenhorn when it comes to lifts and larger wheels, etc. trucks in general really. ultimately i wanna mod the truck in a way that'll make me love it more, but dont wanna repeat the mistakes others have made if i can help it. that's what this forum is all about right? thanks for your 2 cents, i appreciate it

all previously stated are true. This forum is all about opinions and experiences. You ask and you get an answer, some you like, some you don't. You have to take all and make up your own mind on what you want to do. It is your truck and your money to do with what you want so make your self happy. You shouldn't build your truck so other people will like it, you need to build it so you will like it. So that being said, If it was me I would slam it in the weeds man! Wrap it like you said and drop it! IMO 2 wheel drives look killer when they have been slammed and it would draw just as much attention as a lifted truck. Just my.02.

I didn't read the whole thread so if i'm repeating something then i'm sorry..

Unsprung weight is a killer...both mpg and power wise. Sure neither will be as bad on the freeway because all that weight is already moving and the total diameter on the wheel/tire is larger...but in the city you'll notice a huge decline in both. Gears will help your city mpg and give you back some acceleration but then your hwy mpg will suffer some. Kind of a double edged sword thing..

My question is... How beneficial would it be for me to get mudders and even a/t tires on my 2wd? Since only the two rear wheels will be spinning I imagine the front two will just caked with mud and have no benefit.. Anyone?

If you don't go off road, there is no reason for a noisier off road type of tire.
I like the BFG Long Trail T/A. I had them on my 01 F150. They are proced right and last a long time. Got great all season traction without being noisy.
