Default anyone running a 392 stroker??

Anyone have a stroker hemi in their truck?? What kinda power upgrade does that give you, is it as simple as swaping out the crankshaft and piston/rod assemblies or does it involve more.... found out more about my engine so kinda thinking about this option now.

Anytime you are dealing with a stroker, you will need to have the crank matched to the block which means the block has to be machined to fit the crank. More times than not, machining is necessary. There's nothing simple about "just swapping out crank/pistons". You will need machining, new bearings, all tolerances checked and spec'd out. You will want to run a different head design for max flow and you'll need a camshaft to work with the longer stroke and bore size.
Stroker kits are generally very expensive and you will need a custom tune in order to be driveable, otherwise you'll toast the motor.

Stroker kits aren't for the faint hearted or mechanically challenged group of individuals. it's more of a "wouldn't that be sweet" over how practical is a stroker kit for my daily commuter. Without even checking up on specific prices.. i would guess it would cost you about $8k to build a stroker motor. That's if you did all the work yourself and then paid a shop to Dyno Tune it.
Can't forget about the weakest links here either. it's called beefing up the drivetrain which is very costly in itslef. Stroker are known for their torque prducing power. Torque can be a nightmare on weak components.

Big Bucks right there! But, everything i described is what they did other than they added a supercharger to the mix which adds another $6grand to the budget.

thanks for the input dirtydog, got the cam already, engine is toasted at the moment need a new crankshaft, so the machining part of it isnt a big deal neither is the bearings and all that junk. As well have an SCT Custom tuner comign from KRC any day now. So that leaves me with the heads... what would happen if i just used stock heads with upgraded valve train, and get the heads ported and polished?

You would def want to get the stock heads ported without a doubt. Not sure what kind of custom intake manifolds are out there, but i would look into that as well.
You say a custom SCT tuner. It's a tuner with a canned tune. You cannot drive around with a canned tune. You Must get a dyno tune done for proper performance.

FYI... I was at the Dyno shop last year and this kid drive in with a Cobra with a pulley upgrade and a Diablo canned tune. he left the dyno with a custom tune that gave him almost 70 more RWHP and 50more rwtq. Not to mention the fact he was running so very lean it was scary and that's from Diablo who have tested and tuned several Cobra's with a similar set-up.
You will have so many variables coming into play, not doing a dyno tune after spending all that money and time would be a waste.

those look tempting but outta my budget, just gonna buy a short block from dodge and slap everything back together with the new cam for now, maybe take the old block and build a stroker outta the slowly.
