To clear this up once and for all....DO I HAVE TO TURN OFF OVERDRIVE EVERYTIME I WANT TO FLOOR IT??????
from what i read no. the only time o/d is needed to be off is when you are switching out of 2nd gear or are in 2nd gear and "throw the coals to her" so to speak... due to the 2nd gear prime, or whatever it is... just what i gathered but i basically never floor my truck anyways so i dont pay any attention to it

So what I'm understanding is if your computer has one large plug, it's the right one. If it has 3 small plugs, it won't work. Is that correct?

You MUST have od off or manually select 2nd gear, to avoid 2nd prime at certain road speeds. Otherwise 2nd prime will be and is, selected.
Anytime the road speed is in the 2nd gear range and you go WOT, this must be done to preserve the transmission.
On WOT, these od clutches which I'm informed 2nd prime uses, are engaged and are not man enough for WOT and full torque.
Hope this clears it up?
Turn od off or select 2nd gear manually and you will be OK on a non heavily modded truck.
I'm talking nitrous, cams heads, and power adders here etc

No, your looking at the wrong module.
I have 3 plugs that go to the module on the firewall facing the front of the truck.
There is also a moule on the side fron passenger wall behind the stock air box on my 03 Hemi.
This is the seperate trans controller that we are talking about.
Hope this helps?
Al.

I looked again and I only have the one module on the firewall. But, I also have an '02 w/ the 5.9 so maybe that's the diff. It's a 4-speed too and I think I read this only works on the 5's. Oh well, guess I'll just have to stick to engine mods.

Well yesterday I went ahead and did this mod on my 03 hemi and my friends 02 4.7 which had the same harness in the same spot as mine. Everything was easy just unhooked positive cable from bat. And then pulled the yellow wire with green stripes at the number 10. Well we were not impressed at all, driving both trucks with od. off all we noticed was at wot when it shifted into 2nd. it was a quick firm shift which is good but did'nt notice the trucks being any quicker. Hell half the people on here say it really woke their truck up. I think they are imagining what they want the truck to do seriously. But were going to drive them like this for a week or so just to see if were missing something, if not were hooking the wire back up. When I was driving normal with od. on not wot the trans shifted slowly like it always has so I have to say that were not impressed!!

the torque management only works under HEAVY throttle... maybe only WOT im not sure. thats why you dont feel it when driving normally. youre right, it only changes the first to second shift, but with torque management my truck would actually dip the front end when shifting 1-2 under WOT, now she jumps into second and keeps pulling. wait till you gotta blow someone away at a light and you get out ahead until you hit second gear and the truck nosedives and struggles to get going again while the other guy blows past you...
might as well leave it. the only time it is hard on your tranny is when you are WOT, and assuming you dont drive WOT all the time, it wont hurt much, but when you need it its there

+1

i posted the earlier saying the same thing but with less negativity. it doesnt wake up your truck or shave a second off your times. but it does cut the shift time in half between 1st n 2nd. i dont know how many times you floor your truck n hold it there until it runs all the way through 2nd gear but it VERY rarely happens with me. I hardly ever even floor my truck to start with. but its free and it doesnt hurt anything as long as you dont abuse your truck. im sure you have a mod on your truck that has cost you a lot more for less result.

RESURRECT
to ask someone's question again
Hammer you mentioned your 3865 fixin the 2nd prime problem, is this somethin you have to specify, or does the programmer up and do it out of the box?
