what is wrong

Default what is wrong

for about the last 5 months when i start my 05 dodge ram 1500 4.7 and put it in drive or reverse, it does not want to go. i push on the gas and it revs up and then finally starts to move real slow. what could be the problem?

I had the same problem for about 2 seconds after starting my truck the other day. Thought I shifted into neutral and looked down and I was in drive :X Although it went away in about 3 seconds.

Fluid low? Tranny going out? Not really sure, could be a few things.

I would say it's a delayed response from a sensor. A sensor is what determines where to put line pressure. i would check the connections or maybe even replace it. I don't believe any codes will appear unless the ecu gets no feedback from the sensor, so it's a guessing game until then.

i had the same prob and so did alot of other guys on the forum and the answer is it is simply the trans. the trans fluid doesnt get pumped quick enough on start up wait about thirty seconds before puttin it in gear and your prob should be solved the dealership wont do abything about it either except change filters if it is under waranty

there was something i read about taking out a little plastic valve in one of the lines. it's the stupid little plastic valve that gums up or something. drainback valve maybe?

The drain back valve is loacted in the trans cooler spin on filter. I had the same problem on my 03. The answer is to drop your trans pan and replace the spin on filter. At the same time should change the flat pan filter as well.
