IPod to REC radio integration... ?
I have a RAM 3500 with an REC/nav radio w/UConnect. I wanted to connect my Ipod to the radio and be able to control and view the IPod through the radio. I have this feature through a Kenwood head unit on my other car, and was hoping to do this with the stock Dodge radio.
My research showed that Mopar made a factory IPod integration unit that was Mopar #82209617AB. I tried to order it from a dealer and online and keep being told that it is no longer available. I have searched numerous aftermarket IPod integration devices that will allow full control of the IPod through the REC & steering wheel controls, but won't sync with the radio and show the IPod info on my REC Nav screen (like the Mopar unit is supposed to do).
I read in a post here during my research (can't find it now) that there is a software glitch between Apple and Mopar. This would explain the unavailability of the MOPAR intergration units and lack of aftermarket replacements. Allegedly, there is some work being done behind the scenes to remedy this situation.
Can anybody shed any light on this issue for me?
Do I wait for the fix and get a full integration with the IPod (which is far preferable to me) or is there nothing being done and I should just get an aftermarket unit that will control the IPod, but I'll have to mount it somewhere to see to navigate through the music?
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance!
