Ok my buddy got him a 2001 Chevy Z71. He has some 33 inch tires or so on it and claims it will run me up and down the road. All i have is a cat-back exhaust from flowmaster and my gear ratio is 3.55. Will it even be worth my gas to run him or is he in fact correct? My truck seems pretty quick for what it is so idk. Also if i install a CAI, Throttle Body , and a Superchips, what HP would i likely be pushing? Truck has 50,000 miles on it btw.
What engine does he have in it? 4.8, 5.3? Also, what is his gearing? Is it an auto or manual, reg. cab, extended, crew cab? These will all make a difference.
What gears should I run in my truck with the 4.7? I see alot of talk about the hemi which seems like the way to go, but I love my truck just want some more pep to her step. lol
If you had 3.92s, you'd have a chance. My friend has a Silverado 5.3 ext cab, stock gears, and I can usually out run him, but if I botch the launch it's over for me. They're that close, factoring in engine, trans, gears, and weight.
Gearing is hurting you, but I think you should go out and run him anyway (on a track of course). See where exactly you stand against him, it is really the only way you will ever know for sure.
