Default Air temp sensor problem.

Well I was putting my K&N CAI on the truck today and ran into a few issues due to my body lift. Since the body now sits 3 inches higer than stock it also moves the airbox mounts up 3 inches. So I figured no problem I will just hack up the air filter shroud a bit and all will be good.

Well I had no other issues than the fact that the air temp sensor wires are not realy long enough. I mean I cut the heat shrink and got enough to get it in there and conected but I know that over time with the movement of the motor and such that the wires will end up fraying or break and become an issue.

So my question is does any one have a good idea of how to fill in the 3/4 inch hole that the A.T.S. is in right now so I can just make a new hole in a beter suited spot for the wires to reach properly? I just need to move the sensor back about 3 inchec and down a bout the same.

Here are a couple pictures of the sensor and how I hacked the shroud so the CAI could go down about 1 and 1/2 inches. The I used a left over peice of my gap guards to fill in the gap it created on top of the CAI after the drop.

I say just go ahead and get that little resistor, and extend both of your wires to make it long enough, they arnt anything special. You can have a $0.99cent powerwire and a $0.15 all in one mod.

Dont just replace it, MOD it!

Or you can get some butt splice connectors and some 18 guage wire and make them long enough to reach.

The wires are realy pretty short i would only have like 2 inches max to work with. And its to tight for me to feal comfortable soldering standing on the bumper all bent over and cramped. I am not into butt connectors they are cheasy and will eventualy fail at atleast one of the 8 conections that would have to be made, well at least thats my oppinion.

I realy think just moving the sensor will be the best and easiest option. I just need to come up with a good way to plug the 3/4 inch hole off and not have it look like ****.

Man you dont have to get all defensive. I just think that there has to be a better option than having to put in 4 butt connectors. I just know from my past experience that I do not have good luck getting them crimped down all that well. And I also think over they years they would have alot more chance for corosion and being pulled apart.
