Front end clunking 07 quad cab
I apologize if this topic has been started before, I have an 07 quad cab, just had the tie rod ends replaced about a month ago with after markets due to a shortage of stock. Now I have a clunking noise in my front end which seems more prominent in low speed turns as the weight shifts from side to side. I've also heard it while cruising on the highway. I don't really work my truck too hard or go off-roading or anything. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem or has any idea as to what it could be. I've done a little bit of googling and some ppl mentioned tie rod ends, bearings, bushings, sway bar, track bar (?). Thanks in advance folks.
I am going threw something similar with my 06.Just had the tie rods replaced last week and still have a horrible chatter in the front when hitting any kind of bumps.Looked under it the other night to see oil covering the PS strut.Took it back to the dealer last night and they are gonna replace bothe under warranty next week when they come in.
Still cant believe a set of tie rod ends and struts are junked with 20k miles on them.Oh well,at least they are under warranty yet. From what i have read struts are a common problem as are tie rods.Check them out and see if theres any oil on them .

I'd have the ball joints checked. A clunking when turning is a symptom of them going. You can check them yourself if you want too - lift the truck up by the A-arm (right under the pivot point of the wheel). This puts the weight of the truck on the suspension, but off the wheel. Then try rocking the wheel up and down and right and left. You can use a pipe or pry bar under the tire to get more leverage for the rocking up/down test. You should get little to no play, and shouldn't hear any clunking. If you do, you should be able to pinpoint where it's coming from.
The first dealer i called said the tie rod ends where on back order and idnt know when they would get them. The second dealer had them in stock .Guess its a crap shoot but i dont think they are to hard to find.As for my struts the closest set to me in upstate Ny are in Boston and will be here Tuesday.
As for the tie rods if i couldnt get them at the dealer i was just gonna bite it and do them myself and see if they would do the allignment for free but didnt have to go that route.
Good luck and hope ya find the noise and get it fixed.
