power steering cooler
Well, i've read all the posts on here about the leaking power steering lines, unfortunately mine was leaking in the power steering cooler, the tube was cracked right where it enters the cooler. For now i just bypassed the cooler by hooking the two lines together, does anybody know where i can buy one of these coolers, i've been all over the internet, nobody seems to have even heard of them. Also what is the purpose of this cooler, i have the 5.7 with the trailer package, but i only have 17 inch tires. Why would you even need a power steering cooler?

My guess on why it's there... With the towing package, everything on the truck needs to be designed to handle the extra load. If you put a heavy trailer on the back end and use a weight-distributing hitch to shift some of it to the front, you are essentially adding several hundred pounds to the front axles load. The additional load is going to put more strain (heat) on the power steering, so the cooler is there to take care of it.
Thanks for the info guys, but i read some of these universal oil coolers have turbolators in them which lowers the pressure of the fluid and it would not be good for the power steering system. Any thoughts?
