Yeah, I also thought of a "both suck in different ways" and "both are pretty good" options, but too late to make the change after posting.

I was going more for a "It's the driver/maintenance that determines reliability, not foreign vs domestic" conversation/argument/agreement.

True to a point, how many 1980's hondas do you still see on the road? And how many 60's American cars do you see? I think it also comes down to who's willing to keep "that" car on the road as well, that's where style and character come into play. Also I can't find a 80's Porsche 911 in decent shape for less than $10K. Foreign car specifically hondas and toyotas have always been throw away cars or "recycle after use" in my opinion. For cars or trucks to truly last the distance the need to exhibit style and character, both of which our trucks have in spades, then someone will be obliged to keep it going for a long time.

The only defense i can see for Toyota would be the fact they're fairly new to the truck world. How many years have they been manufacturing the Tundra? like 8-9 years? Where gm, ford, and chrysler have been making trucks for decades. It's going to take time to get everything right.

Talking Heated steering wheel

Hoss,
I got a similar problem. I'm waiting for a refrigerated wheel. My hands hurt if I don't have a grip on a cold can of beer.

Sorry, couldn't help it....

Of course I won't be giving up my heated 10-way leather seat anytime soon.

Just having fun.. and besides I need a couple more posts so I can vote.

Ha ha, no worries but you can keep you heated leather seats since I've found I don't need heat with cloth seats and they don't burn or stick to my skin in the summertime either.

Amen to that!!!

Though many do not like them, the best overall quality built vehicles on the road today is Ford. they have surpassed Toyota and have taken over #1 in quality.
Imports are overrated these days. Toyota has had many major problems with above mentioned camshafts and such, but quietly fixes them under the radar.
Not to mention that the Tundra and New Camry are butt ugly.

i wouldn't really say that the foreign trucks are built solid i don't know if any of you watched the videos of the trucks in the ford proving grounds but the toyota tundra was built pretty crappy. the frame had so much flex that the box of the truck hit the cab and busted out the rear window and they also mention that the interior is cheap glued together plastic. also there were the threads about the tundra owners tailgates crumpling like beer cans from loading there quads and stuff in the back. never owned a foreing vehicle in my life but i know when im buying a truck its gonna be domestic.

Not to mention the Tundra's come from the factory with a big a$$ dent already in the tailgate.
