Check Engine Light and Non-Fowler
Had true dual exhausts put on my 03 ram and I have no cat now and the check engine light is on. I going to use the non fowlers but want to know which 02 sensor i put them on. I'm assuming the 1 furthest from the motor but I don't think I will have the clearance for it. I'm not a mechanic so I'm just learning from just doing it.
yeah you only need the fowler on both rear o2 sensors. You should have 4 o2 sensors (2 on each side, one in front of the cat, and one in back). The front one goes straight in to the bung on the headers, and the rear ones go into the pipe a little further back with the non-fouler.
If I'm not mistaken, the '03s only have one cat. So you only need to do one, the downstream one after the cat.
DO NOT replace the upstream one!!! The sensor will give an incorrect reading to the PCM and it will adjust for it, giving a decrease in performance. Probably will read way too lean and richen the hell out of it, I'm thinking.
Another trick, if the non-fouler after the cat still gives a CEL, is to place some steel wool inside it, around the O2 sensor.
The downstream O2 pretty much only reports the proper operation of the cat, looking for less emissions after exhaust gasses exit it. The PCM does nothing more than generate a CEL for it. It DOES NOT alter the A/F ratio. Therefore, other than having an annoying CEL on all the time, performance is NOT effected.
The non-fouler basically moves the sensor down, away from the flow of gasses, fooling the sensor into thinking the cat is still there, filtering emissions as it should...

HOLY CRAP man I'm SOOOOO glad you caught that. Wow, I'm pretty sure thats my first grammatical mistake in the 552 posts i've made. Relax... I had bird huntin on my mind apparently. Actually I think I spelled it that way cause the post I was replying to did. And yes, if my friend jumped off a bridge I would too
