Default "mopar" Tow Hooks on 1500

Has anyone put the "Mopar" style tow hooks from the 2500/3500 trucks on a 1500? I hate the "bar" style hooks that are made for the 1500's. I really want to get a set of the Mopar ones! If anybody has a set they would want to sell from their 2500 or 3500 I would be intrested. Thanks

I would like the bar style hooks on my ram but it's a 02 model and dodge was nice enough not to design tow hooks for that year.......

They are totally diffferent. They won't bolt up. I personally don't like the open hook design of the 1500's, but there's nothing else out there that will fit.

I cant believe a truck as nice as the Ram has such lame tow hooks. My 98 durango was the same way. Don't they know that these things are 4x4 for a reason......we are gonna take them off road! Guess Mopar figures we wont get stuck. I could use them for pulling out buddies with Chevys though Wish I could get some decent looking tow hooks on there. I looked under a 2500 the other day and the front frame part looks very similar, but its hard to tell with that plastic piece on there. oh well let me know if there are any better options out there.

Could you take the "bar" style hooks and cut off the hook part and bolt on the "mopar" style? Seems like it could be done somehow.

You need the bar on the 1500's because the frame is not as strong as the 2500's and you need the cross bracing. Now if you can weld than it would be real simple to weld up a bar with the closed ring style on it and it would be stronger than factory dodge.

Anyone have the "Bar" style that they want to get rid of? I am going to get some decent looking tow hooks on this thing somehow. I think with the bar and the Mopar style you could make something work that would look sweet. If you cut the hook part off the bar would the plastic piece still fit in-front of the bar? Then you could cut out the plastic where the Mopar hook bolted/welded on?

Anyone with an 02 like me cant use the bar style because they use a 3 hole mounting system where as the 02 uses a 4 bolt. Neither the 01 or 03 hooks fit mine. I've heard the 03 2500 hooks will bolt up with a little work and the 1500 from an 03 with some drilling.

It pisses me off that they put tow hooks on new explorers and suv's like the trial blazer, but not a 4wd half ton truck. Silly dodge

Closed D-ring tow hooks are a PITA when all you have is a recovery strap with no hooks. What do you do -- tie it on?

I pulled an F-250 diesel out of a ditch by running the strap from one hook, through a front hook on his truck, to my other front hook. The open hooks allowed me to use the loops in the strap.

Then I backed into the same ditch, hooked up to his enclosed trailer, and pulled it out of the ditch too. Silly Powerstrokes with highway tires
