Can't beat the Taurus e-fan swap. It is one of my favorite inexpensive mods out there. What type of controller are you using on your fan?

not too sure what it is its a partsource special i believe its the adjustable TCI Thermostatic control switch

it was pretty easy to set up i soldered the wires together and only thing else i needed was mechanics wire to mount the the fan and electrical tape once i run a switch to the a/c wire im going to tape all the wires up so it kind of blends in to the black should look pretty good after.

What are the major benefits of doing this? I've been thinking about going with an efan but arent there some down sides to it as well?

I have been running mine for a while now and have not found any downsides yet. The biggest benefit I have found from swapping out the mechanical fan for an electric fan is an increase in MPG's. I have gained a solid couple miles per gallon since I made the swap. It is a cheap mod if you go with a Taurus fan out of a pick and pull yard. That is where I got mine.

i did an E-fan swap on my F-150 with a V-6, made a huge difference in throttle responce, and a much cleaner wind up of the motor,(dont hear the mechanical fan winding with the motor) on another note does anyone have a clue as to how much CFM the taurus fans pull?

The data I read said 2900 on low and 3800 on high. Not sure if that is true or not but that is what I read.

Hmmm....You used a wiring harness that has a recall??? Only thing i can think of recalling a wire harness is for fire hazards???

the reason the old wiring harness had a recall was because the thermostat thing you stick in your rad wouldn't work all the time causing the fan not to kick in and then over heat the engine. my buddy over heated his f150 and blew the headgaskets so we swapped the motor but its been working great love how there is no noise from the fan when i start my truck.
