You will need a heavy duty press to press them out then press them back in. So don't even attempt the job without one. You do not need a shop. Many posts say Advance auto rents them? I used the torch method because my press was light/ meduim duty. I really was screwing around with my press. Basically the press I have would not open wide enough to fit over the assembly. If you use the torch heat around the bj. So you would be heating the control arm. Make sure to move / cover anything up that can be burnt from heat or sparks ( ex cv shaft/ boot).Try and use as little heat as possible.Once you have it removed you will press the new ball joint back in. Pressing back in will be very simple. Just make sure it is going in square. I put my ball joints in the freezer over night to shrink them.
I was going to buy the same kit from ebay as you posted. By I decided against it. I just do not trust the parts. I bought Moog upper and lowers and Spicer outer tie rod ends from Rock Auto.
Good luck

i know what you mean about the part choice, but i gave a similar brand (upper control arm) a shot a few months ago and it has held up great. i understand moog would be the better choice, but from past experience i dont see anything wrong with the kit shown, just my opinion. and thanks a lot for the input man. i use to work for an auto shop so im sure they will press it in for me and out if i need. how were the tie rods installing?

My outer tie rods were rusted tight. I could not budge them. I used very little heat from my torch and they broke loose no problem. Here is a link to a press kit to give you an idea what you need.http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=38335
Good Luck.

well you have been a huge help big guy and i plan on ordering sometime this week and would like to get it done this weekend but wont be able to since ill be leaving to go to orientation and class registration at my university, so it will probally be 2 weekends from now, but ill be sure to let you know how it goes and i may have a question here and there, but i believe i got it from here. thanks a lot though, i do appreciate it and ill do my best to make it a DIY. as far as the rest of the kit goes, do you think ill need inner tie rods considering i just had a rack and pinion installed? should i have that taken out of the kit or leave and install that too (which i also dont know how to install)

Personally if there is nothing wrong with the inner tie rods I would not touch them. Plus I have not heard of many failing. Considering how much your paying for the kit. If it were me I would include the inners and keep them in case you should need them in the future. It's your call.
