Are you running aftermarket brakes?
Yeah, theres no way im gonna waste money like that on pads that are 80+ a set. Im telling, try the Cmax ceramics from AZ. They're 60 a set and LLT. If you don't like them then yoou can return them but im betting you won't take them back. Im running big chrome 24s and have to clean them more from road grime and rain than I do from brake dust. AZs Cmax brake also come with all new hardware and grease. I've never had Hawks but im betting they don't include that.
Which is merely a Gimmick to get you to buy theirs. The average person trades their car in ever few years which would cancel out the warranty. That's what the Manufacturers rely upon.
ALSO, you CANNOT compare a high performance pad to a basic Ceramic pad. That's what stock is. Ceramic. On all newer vehicles with good brakes and nice wheels. So basically all your doing is replacing stock worn out pads with equal replacements.
ANY Hawk pad is going to better than anything AZ or Napa sells. they will stop better, create less dust and will have reduced friction on the rotors compared to AZ's Ceramic pad.
Ceramic pads are Extreme on rotors. Very harsh. i would opt for Hawks Carbon Ferro. Had them on my Mustang will driled sloted rotors. Zero fade when i was running a street course and much easier on rotors.
Squeel can be from low pads or the pad vibrating in between the caliper and the rotor. That causes squeel as well. If and when you get new pads, apply some Brake lubricant to the backside of the pads where they touch the caliper. You will get absolutely no noise at all.
Most stores have a Better and Best Pad(semi-metallic garbage). The only difference between the two 99% of the time, the Best Pads have shims on the backside of the pads to prevent the squeel. Ohh and prob. a LmtdLftme Repl. as well.
You want to stay away from Semi-metallics if you can. Ceramics are good for low dust/noise. Other's are even better.
I'm gonna look into this hawk brand. I'm assuming in the next year or so i'll need at a minimum new pads and I hate how my factories dust pretty hardcore. I want a high quality aftermarket not something from a chain store. money not an option for brakes IMO
Technically I think you are right. We do spend a lot of funds in a vehicle that we all know we are not going to get it back out of UNLESS we just so happen to find someone who loves it as much as we do. But that never happens does it?
