Default Front bumper removal... airbag worries

I have to take off my front bumper to put on my homemade tow bar, and am not sure about the airbags. Do I have to worry about the airbags going off when im messing around with the bumper? If i just disconnect the battey will it be ok?
I cant wait to get this thing mounted... its gunna be SWEET!

Thanks

I have never given that any thought, but you may very well have a valid point. With the battery disconnected however you should be good.

Well, if you are ever concerned, take the two seconds to disconnect the battery and save yourself some worry and possible frustration. I guess this is one of those better safe than sorry situations.

No they wont go off. I've had my front bumper off. The whole thing is only held on by like 8 bolts. Just be sure to disconnect your fog lights if you have them. Disconnecting the battery won't set them off either.

Just took my bumper off the other day to replace it. The airbags won't go off if the truck is not running. The sensors are digital, needing power which they won't get when the truck is powered down. The bumper can be taken off two ways. You can either take out the 8 bolts around the square plates (4 each) or just take the 2 U bolts out holding the entire assembly to the chassis.

Airbag sensors are on the Lower Radiator support i thought?
Anyhow, i just had to take both my wife's '07 Sonata seats out which have side curtain arbags in the seats. i just unplugged them and plugged them back in when i was done. never unhooked the battery. It's when you go probing and splicing wires you need to be worried about. But a simple bumper removal you'll be fine. i doubt any wires are even hooked to it.

If it worries you enough, then follow the factory recommendation to disconnect the battery, then wait 2 min for the capacitor to discharge. I don't just wait a few min, I also hit the brakes and a few switches just to make sure there's no power left in the system and that the airbag capacitor is completely discharged.
