Depends on which one falls off. Could grind down the housing bearing surfaces, get caught up in the ring/pinion and tear some sh*t up. metal shavings could get into bearing surfaces. or if your lucky, they will be in whole at the bottom of the belly.
The worst thing is if your c-clip breaks on either axle you will know when your tire and axle are lyind beside the truck as your diff tube grinds into the ground.
