Default Freeze plug/core plugs

Ok so today i finally got fed up with putting fluid in my housing like every 3-4 weeks i knew i had a leak but i had no days off to look for it.... Well i finally got a day off... i took it to school and put it on a lift....i noticed this line of Rot/corrosion.... oh boy right... followed it to a freeze plug/core plug what ever you wanna call it.... well its right next to the engine mount... was wanting to know what would be the best way to go about replace that freeze plug with out doing harm to my engine... or if there was a how to.... and correct me if im wrong but isn't there like a seal on it... not like rubber or anything but like glue or something? i heard about just taking a screw stick and hammering one side till it flips then grabbing it and then hammering it with a socket on it... but can it really be that easy?

Drain the coolant and punch a hole in the plug so you can pry it out. The problem is getting the new one on!!!!!!!!!

Everything is easier on a lift! I like to hammer them back in using the biggest socket that will fit in the plug, they have to go in straight. Can you get a square blow to it with the engine mount there
