I heard that the 2006 HEMI's will have the MDS function for better gas mileage. Do you think there is anyway to install this on an older model HEMI such as a 2004? I'm not sure what would be required, if it would just be a different computer flashing or whether this would require a whole new engine or heads or something. Let me know what you think. As for gas mileage, I'm turning at best a 15 mpg for 6 days of driving. I have a 25 mile drive to work each morning, mostly highway. I hope to istall a K&N intake today and flowmaster catback within a few weeks. I also noticed my tired were 10 lbs under optimal pressure, hoping filling thos will eliminate some problems.
You'd need complete MDS heads, wiring, PCM...... Seeing that they don't make a 2004 MDS PCM for a Ram, that'd make it a little difficult. Sure, you could always put in the '06 PCM if and when they become available with MDS and hope that works, BUT IT'S A TRUCK, MPG ISN'T WHAT IT WAS PURCHASED FOR.

As much as I love my new truck, I heard reports this morning that gas could go as high as $4 a gallon. I love the Ram but at this rate I might be riding a Huffy to work. I figured the MDS options would be a little much to install but I figured I'd ask.

Now that would really suck a$$. We've had it pretty good in the US for a long time with our gas prices. Europe has been paying similar prices for some time.

Anyone know where they sell those battery operated cars on the east coast. The one's that go about 120 miles before charging. at speeds around 60 mph. I only drive 5 miles to work round trip.

What's so sad is that I purchased my Ram for gas mileage (and I missed having a truck). My other car gets sub 12 mpg. So far on the Ram I get almost 14mpg with the 4.7L.

I have the 3.7L with a 5-speed manual and I am only getting about 13 mpg right now, but it is all city and I do mean city...as in you go a block and stop, go a block and stop...really sucks but it is the easiest way for me to get to work:-(. When I have enought cash set aside going to start needign help with mods to the truck though...so start thinking for me guys...looking for good bang for the buck, but I can't lift my truck:-(.

Well, I've been thinking about performance chips, wondering how much I could tweak the computer to get better gas mileage. Anybody have any idea how much you can get out of a chip as opposed to intake/exhausts?

I have a 2005 quad cab 2wd with the Hemi. I only have 3000 miles and I am getting 22 on the highway @ 65 mph and average about 15 in town.

Great jumpin OPEC, I'm getting average of about 15 mpg on a good day. What do you consider highway? As in how long are your highway trips? Do you have a tonneau?

I've gotten a solid 2 mpg increase with the K&N FIPK and Gibson exhaust alone. Since I put a tonneau cover on, i can see another mpg better on long highway trips. Of course the money I save on gas isn't gonna come close to paying for the mods, but the mpg wasn't the only reason I did the mods, I'm more concerned with making my truck last 150,000+ miles. By the way, I got my averages for mpg by driving 70 mph 50 miles a day on highway and about 10 miles city driving per day. Just thought I'd put my two cents in while I can afford it....who know with this gas increase....$2.25/gal for 87 here in NY. I better get my mountain bike out!!!!
