Default Switching to synthetic

Is there anything special when you go from regular oil to synthetic because I will be changing my own oil and thought some royal purple synthetic would be good to put back in and isnt it 7 qrts for the 5.7 as well
Thanks in advance

Nothing special, just a "normal oil" change as long as regular oil changes have been made. If you are going with extened intervals on the oil changes, a quality filter is a must. As for the brand, its like beer, everyone has an opinion and a favorite. I personally use Amsoil. Is it better than Royal Purple or Mobile 1? I do not know but, am satisfied with my pick.

You don't need to do anything special, just drain, refill, and put a decent filter on there.

I'm going to be like wanderer, this is "my opinion" or "my pick" but sometimes if you have a few miles on dino oil it is better to put an engine flush through before the synthetic because the synthetic is really good at cleaning your engine and it could get dark fast.

Nothin special RIDIN, like said before, choose a good filter to go with it. I also use RP and change @ 5k and I use the Mobile 1 extended service filter. And yes its 7 qts for the 5.7. Hey don't know if you have bought your oil yet but I stumbled on a sale at O'Reillys on RP. 5qts and a K+N filter for 40.00. I traded the K+N back in on the Mobil 1. Good deal thought I would let you know.

That is a good deal, no need to swap k&n for the mobil 1 filter b/c they are the same except for the stupid nut on the end.

EDIT: BEAR after a little searching I believe you are correct about the mobil 1 and k&n being different. The mobil 1 filters uses "an advanced synthetic fiber blend filter media" and the k&n uses "Resin-impregnated filter media" so I was wrong, you got me. I wish there was an o'reilly near me, sadly they are like 70 miles away.

i use amsoil filters and oil on mine.....when i switched (which i just did), i decided to go with a 3000 mi interval for the first change, then go the 5 or 6000 change the second time around. but like said above, its just a matter of opinion, really. Amsoil filters are rated for 25,000 mi, so I like em, knowing i'll never come close to that interval on it.

the big three IMO in oil and filters is mobil 1 royal purple and amsoil. I personally use MOBIL since it is available in more locations than the other two but you can't go wrong with either.
