Default is it normal for temp to rise after turning off truck?

Well i live in washington and i was traveling to MT Rainier and it was alot of uphill driving so i was driving at avg of 4000 rpm and my temps always a little below half but driving at a constant 4k the temp went to half. after a little bit of driving my gf had to use the bathroom so i stopped at a rest area and i turned off the truck but i turned the ignition forward to listen to music and i saw my temp gauge rising past half so i turned the truck back on and after a bit it went down to half. is this Normal? i know that when the truck is off the big fan or the water pump shutoff too right? Does the ac fan turn on at a certain coolant temp or just the ac? Im still learning on this truck lol where should the temp gauge be at to be considered overheating?? and also do the 4.7s have speed govenors? And what rpm is considered redlining? it maxes out at 6 k (limiter) right?? thanks 4 any help! thanks!

my 3.9 bangs off the limiter at 95 MPH/ 4K RPM. if it misses a downshift it usually hits around 5800 on the chip. (in a Dako)

I don't think we've coaxed the hemi much beyond 3800 yet.

yes its normal. After driving and you shut the engine down theres no way to get rid of the heat in the engine so it builds up,as soon as ya start the fan starts to cool down again. Its normal, nothing to worry about.

After a hard run, I like to run the truck for at leat 5 mins before I shut off.
It's just to let all that good old synthetic oil cool everything down a tad.
It's probably not necessary, but it gives me some peace of mind.

Yes, it's normal. Every car I've had with a mechanical temp guage rises after you shut the key off. I think its called heat soak. My GTX would cruise around 200 degrees on a warm day, but when I shut it off, the Autometer guage would slowly creep up to around 230.

Good advice; also if it's not too much of a PITA raise your hood after a hard run - you would be surprised just how much heat can escape in two minutes. Racers do this all the time.

Its normal dont worry...

or you can do what i did if your worried. I actually wired duel e-fans up to a relay and switch so when i shut my truck off the electric fans run for 6 mins or untill the temperture drops back down which ever comes first on the relay..

Its kinda the same deal with ricers and turbo timers. They shut the car off but it continues to run untill it cools down enoff that it wont overheat while sitting ( beileve me ive seen it happen )

Some people will wire in an electric water pump to go with the e-fans so the coolant circulates.

Yeah I was just thinking that.
What goods efans running with the truck shut off???
The coolant isn't circulating.
It'll cool the fluids in the radiator, but not the block.
