Default EGR operation

Hi Everyone,

I have a noise that I hear when I drive the truck, only when I get to about 1/4 throttle. It sounds almost like a small exhaust leak, but I can't pinpoint where I'm hearing the sound.

It doesn't do it when I sit in park/neutral and rev it up, which makes me think that if the EGR only operates when the truck is under load/in gear than perhaps thats the source of the sound. Does anyone know if the EGR doesn't start operation until the truck is in gear under load?

Would it be possible for me to disconnect the wiring to the EGR and drive it, just so I could determine if the EGR is the source of the noise? or would I damage something by doing that?

the egr should only work when your engine is below normal operating temperature
