Default What should I expect SC 4.7?

Just to start off i have read through about 100 post on the site about the superchip most of which are all for you hemi guys here. I have the 4.7 and was wondering what kind of changes i can expect with this? Oh yeah I think I got a really good deal on it to only paid $80, and I will be picking it up next weekend.

For $80 you can't go wrong even if you don't like it...make sure it's unlocked though (sellers vehicle has to be put back to stock tune). If it's not unlocked it's only an $80 scanner. You should notice a little more power, smoother running and crisper shifts as with any tuner...less soot out the tailpipe from the leaner a/f ratio.

i had a sc tuner for my 05 4.7 dakota, worth the money for the shift points, only problem is it is for advancing timing and fuel curves, i run a hemi 125 shot of nitrous thru my 4.7, so i needed a way to retard timing, if you have any type of mods than the sct tuner will be better for you, if truck is stock than sc will be better for you, sc is good, only trouble is they are not open on weekends, so if the tuner fails and truck wont run, you will need to wait until monday,

Happens all the time with any Tuner. Once a tuner has been downloaded to a vehicle, it "steals" the vin and locks the tuner so you cannot use it on any other vehicles until the stock tune is put back into the truck and the actual "tune" that you pay for needs to be put back into the programmer before it can be used again. Also, I know the SCT can only be used on 3 vehicles and then it locks regardless. Not sure on the other tuners on the market and not sure about SC. I have Diablo myself.

But as said, if it's locked, you have a scanner. FYI, the orange scanner tools run $129 for the bigger one's that do more. So, worse case scenerio, you'll have a tuner that can read diagnostics and erase the ecu if needed. i think it's like $150 to sens it back and have unlocked. That means $80=$150+shipping for a used tuner.

So pretty much I should just try hooking it up to my truck and see if it takes, and if it doesn't and its locked then I won't buy it, but if it works ill take it. But like superdak05 says if the tuner fails on a weekend when its already installed into my truck, ill be truckless until the monday right?

Even if it is locked, I would still buy it. For $80 you can not get hurt, just buy it and then pay the $100 like Silver said to get it unlocked.

thanks well i guess ill just hope for the best and hope its unlocked. Also another ? probably a stupid one but, for those who have a sc, would it be a good idea to store it somewhere in my truck for a "just in case" situation or are they really reliable you can leave it at home.
