in the market for a new Ram
i currently drive a 2003 dodge ram 1500 reg cab short bed 4x4 sport with the 4.7
im looking for a quad cab preferably between 02 and 05 because i like the look better but its not a big concern
im debating on looking into the new hemi because of its gas mileage or maybe the cummins for the gas mileage and longevity of the motor
im also debating on the 1500 or the 2500 because of the better suspension
id like a 2500 hemi but they dont offer them with the mds hemi as far as i know
basically a qc ram 1500 or 2500 thats better on gas then my 4.7
any suggestions
oh and i basicaly drive to work and back and dont do much towing

why do you want mds? If you search the forum there are many of us who are disabling our MDS. Some say they are getting better mileage with it disabled but I havent really checked to see if I am getting better mileage. I mean I bought a truck, I knew going in that gas milage sucked.
first off, if you're looking for 03-05, they didnt come with mds. mds only came on 06+. secondly, you'll more than likely wish you didnt have mds if you do get a hemi with it (as 90% of the 06+ hemi owners on here have experienced).
the 2500 CTD is gonna get about the same mileage as a 1500 hemi, so if you arent gonna use the muscle of the 2500, no sense in payin extra for it. just go with the 1500 hemi. the 2500 does have a solid front axle, which is superior to the IFS if you're doing anything but road driving. the IFS offers a smoother ride, which is one reason they put IFS on the 1500. Unless you plan on doing a major lift with tires bigger than 37's, again you're better off with the 1500.
You should be able to find a pretty low mileage 03-05 for around $15k. Good luck.
