Default front axle swap question

ok going to be honest... i dont know, but i need some info...

i am lifting my truck, its a 98 ram, and putting dana 60s front and rear.. so my dad wants to take my perfectly fine dana 44 out of the front of my truck and put in under his 05 1500...

i dont know how much this has been done, if it is worth it or what.. he just told me to get someinfo on it to see if he would be interested in doing that...

like what is needed to do that? what needs to be changed... what is needed

It would be hard. And probably expensive. Major fabrication, frame alterations, new / custom parts.

It wouldn't be to terribly difficult to do if you know what your doing.you'd probably have to fabricate new spring mounts on the axle to mach his truck.and get a new driveshaft madeabout $300-$1000.I had the same thing done to may old toyota it was $600.other little thing either have to fabricated or bought so that things will match up.If it were me the only way i'd do it is if it was like hardcore offroad truck or something like that.

The easiest way would be to use leaf springs in the front. All you need to weld is the leaf spring mounts, shock mounts, and the steering box. Then have new drive shaft made. Make new linkages for the steering column to the steering box. I think I got it all. Only problem is it will be a little stiff in the front but not bad. Let me know guys if I missed something.
