What Mods Are A Must??
dude all these folks talkin about magnaflow, blowmaster, pffft! go with a cherry bomb extreme flows awesome and isnt too obtrusive to other people! cai are a dime a dozen, you could make your own or pay the big $$. i only got one to get rid of the "hat". as for the third one i went another route, as i have a 4.7 and tuner wasnt present at that time i went for a sound upgrade. 2 10's under the back seat is a two fold mod; sounds awesome and is a good way to get a total body massage. i recommend the ffdp setting!
When replacing the exhaust are you just replacing the muffler or the entire freaking system?
Also, does replacing the exhaust increase hp and mpg or just hp?
Why is flowmaster so popular if it is an inferior product?

You can do a lot of things w/ the exhaust like just swap the muffler, swap the muffler and y-pipe, go true duals, or there are a few more ways to do it. I had the shop replace my muffler w/ a dual in single out and cut out the factory y-pipe, so now it's 2 pipes running into the muffler and one coming out in the stock location. I saw no gain in mpg but did feel performance from the butt dyno. Flowmaster isn't inferior, it flows better than the stock muffler, but I think you get more power w/ a straight through muffler vs. a chambered one.
Tuner first. Then CAI and exhaust. If you just plan on putting around town and being a stoplight bully, then any old cai and muff will do. If you plan to do a cam, then you need a real CAI (BFI or Vararam) and a full exhaust (headers, y pipe, muff).
Everybody is going to tell you that there CAI is the best, the expensive ones don't work, etc. The folks you want to listen to are the ones who have actually tried several different intakes and know which ones perform, and which just make noise. Stay away from flowmaster if you want performance. They're great for sound, but that's all. Superchips is about to launch some serious trans control and I would recommend them if you have a stock cam/head combo.
