I also used the eraser wheel for a while but that thing got me really nervous when using it because of how hot it got.
i thought you were talking about using the scraper to get the spongy stuff off lol

No I used the scraper for the 3mm tape that was left on the truck, I used the eraser wheel for a while but I didn't like how hot it was getting and not taking anything off (probably a bad wheel) so I pulled up a stool and took my time peeling it off. To get the badges off I had some nylon catfish line that I attached to a short broom handle to save my fingers.

Goo Gone/goof off works great on adhesives,My brother in law always debadges cars at his body shop with a heat gun on a low setting moving back and forth over the badge, you could use a hair dryer I suppose if you don't have a heat gun.

i just used goo gone and a towel. just soaking it and rolling the "spongy stuff" in an upward fasion. like half of my fingers had blisters when i was finished, but it was worth it in the end...

The link by Hammer or the video by Rubberfrog is the best IMO I tried all the other ways and finally gave in and bought a eraser wheel and never turned back. As long as you don't run the drill too fast it works great. Slow and easy is the ticket.
