Body Lift
I'm not overly concerned with ride harshness, I'm worried about having the butt end of the truck dragging with a bunch of concrete or sheetrock in the back. Do you have the compressor mounted in the bed?
Hammer, you have the rough country 4-5" lift, correct? I'm going to assume you did it yourself, how difficult was it? I have a 2 post lift and ginormous toolbox at work, so I'm pretty sure I'd be set with tools. But I was reading the disclaimers at the beginning of the installation instructions and was thinking they got pretty intense. Do you have an alignment done every 3,000 miles like they recommend? That could get pretty expensive. And do you mind the rear blocks in the back? I still haul sheetrock and stuff in the back and think that I'd really like to beef up the rear springs instead of installing blocks... Thanks!
The Rancho at 4" and the Skyjacker at 6" I liked the best, they offered a complete box type sub-frame as opposed to a single or dual crossbars.
Of course, they are both at the upper end of the price scale.
I had the luxury of having a hunting buddy whose father owns a couple tire/auto repair centers up there, and we did the lift there over a saturday afternoon and sunday while the shop was closed. Lift, tools and everything we could ask for.
I had an alignment done when finished, at about 22k miles and I'm at 42k now and have not seen a need for one since. Now granted, I have spent a lot of time in Fl. taking care of my parents in recent years and have NOT been off-road or even hunting like I normally would. Had I been active off-road with the truck, I'm sure I'da needed another alignment by now.
I have NO problem with the blocks in the rear, but with a 4" kit, they are only 2" blocks. Had I opted for the Skyjacker at 6", I would have paid extra for rear leafs as opposed to going with 4" blocks. But AIR BAGS are awesome, I recommend them to anyone who tows or hauls regularly...
