Default Tire Issues

I have a 2006 Ram with 21,000 miles on it. I recently went on vacation and had the truck aligned before I left. It was a 1200 mile round trip and on the way there and back the truck pulled hard to the left. When I got back, I took it back to the shop and they checked everything out. They told me that they checked the alignment and it was perfect. They then cross-rotated the front tires and it pulled hard to the right. They concluded by telling me it was a tire issue and that I needed new tires.

The tires only have 21,000 miles on them and the tread is excellent. Does anyone have a suggestion on what could possibly be wrong with the tire or tires? Any help is appreciated.

Look closely at the sidewall of the tire. Do they have the letters: G O O D Y E A R on them?

If so, that's your problem...

Cool

Sounds like you have a bad or separated belt. The tires are covered by the tire manufacture's warranty and the paper work should be with your Owners/Maintenance Manual. You can try to work through a Chrysler Dealer or go to the Tire Store. If the tire has failed, they will most likely prorate the credit based on the remaining tread depth. If only one tire is replaced and you do not have white lettering, switch out the spare so you will have two new tires on the same axle. Good Luck

^^^ Yup. they use them to give the 20" wheels a smooth car type ride. i noticed they have been doing that on almost all new cars. They make the suspension stiff for handling and then put on a mushy tire to absorb most of the impact and vibration. Once i put the Coopers on my truck i could feel the difference. i also replaced my wife's Sonata tires from Michelin garbage to Dunlop Sport Sig's and the ride is brutal. Because of the squishy crappy stock tires to hide behind the better handling characteristics of the newer cars.
