Default Bugs!

So just a quick question, what do the rest of you find most effective for getting retarded amounts of bugs off your trucks? I do quite a bit of highway traveling on the weekends through a lot of lake country so the bugs can get pretty thick. Haha I actually had to replace my windshield wiper last time because the bugs hit hard enough to rip the rubber off the arm.

Aaanyways, I've tried a few different things, but nothing less than a stupid amount of time and elbow grease seems to work. Any magical solutions out there?

I took one of those gas station windshield wipers and the backside that's spongy that has the hole over it works the best and wont scratch because its been used so much!

there is bug remover out there, its called "Bug Free"... but if you have a million dried up bug carcasses on your windshield, that prolly wont work. you could try that extra strength goo gone in a spray can???

Wd-40? Really? Wouldn't that just make everything all greasy?
I haven't tried the Bug Free stuff yet, I'll give that a go this week. If all else fails, I'll try the goo gone and see what happens.

A wet sheet of Bounce Fabric Softener. New one works better but not to be wasteful a used one out of the dryer after a load of laundry will work just fine.

Spray WD-40 on a towel and wipe of the bugs and then put some rubbing alcohol on another towel and wipe off the WD-40. This will also take the wax off your truck, but I'm pretty sure all bug removers do that.

Get you truck real clean, put two coats of wax on the paint, then two coats of rain-X on your windshield and repeat every 1-2 months. That'll prevent things from sticking bad in the first place and make washing your truck way easier.

As far as getting them off, I've always used the Bug and Tar Remover that Turtle Wax puts out, and one of those soft pot scrubbers.

As far as prevention, a buddy of mine whose a fireman, does the trick he says ALL fire departments use on their trucks. Sprays the front of his truck with a non-stick cooking spray. I've not done this yet, but he swears by it...
