89 octane premium fuel necessary??

Yes, that is basically correct, but not because the octane ratings are equivalents, but because the octane requirements for gasoline engines DECREASE as altitude increases. I have been running 85 since I got to Utah last summer, but I have a 4.7L which is supposed to run on 87. Hill Air Force Base is above 4,500 feet. Unfortunately, hp output also decreases as altitude increases...

If you are worried, I'd buy half a tank of 91, and half a tank of 87. The gas station doesn't care...
