Head Unit Fitting
Hey all, just got a 2007 Ram 1500. Looking to do a big stereo system upgrade in the next month or so. Just curious as to what you guys did with your head units. Im looking to buy a basic head unit that has CD/Radio/IPod setup...im not looking to get one of those huge screens for like $1000..want something between 200-400. Can a head unit fit into the stock slot or do i need to get a custom dash kit for a new head unit? any hell would be great!

another question....if im getting speakers and the RMS peak power per speaker is 75Watts....would a 4 channel amp that is 300 Watts @ 75Watts per channel be fine if im running the speakers to the amp with no sub...or do i need a bigger amp? i wasnt sure if i needed more power, i was told having a huge amp with tons of power doesnt always mean better things for the speakers.
Ive got a Dual XDVD8281 double DIN touch screen HU Im going to sell. I just ordered a new wiring harness for it and am waiting on it to get here. Original price is like 750. PM me an offer if youre interested.
You should put that in the for sale section, not tech forums
Well, 75watts RMS is fine with a 75W amp. They will have a peak rating much higher.
That should be plenty of amp. You want a speaker with a high dbW rating. around 93 or higher. This is decibels per watt. The more dbW, the louder the speaker is at the same power level. Pioneer, Kenwood and Infinity have the highest ratings at 93 and 94. The Infinity frames are made different and will not fit the Ram doors without modding the opening. I have to take back the 6x9's I bought today because I am not going to butcher my doors. I might try the Kenwoods to see if they sound any better than my 4way Pioneers.
