Default 4.7 to 5.7 swap

I have a 2002 1500 Ram sport with the 4.7L powertech V8. The oil pump failed toasting my bearing and burning out some valves. I was thinking about throwing in a engine and trasmission from a 2004 Ram 1500 (5.7L Hemi and 5 speed 45RFE auto tranny)

Is this swap possible? I know that I will need the PCM from the donor...
what else would I need?

id bring the rearend and the driveshaft(both if 4wd) too. If i were to do it id look into replacing the entire powertrain, otherwise you could be in for some headaches with parts that arent designed for the power the hemi has. yes pcm and probably most of the wiring loom for the motor. May need to move engine mounts as well. Hope this little bit helps m8.

Do NOT get the 04 setup. Your best bet is to find an 03 setup, as that will be the closest donor for a stock application. In 04 they combined the separate engine and trans computers into one, which makes everything different (its why the 04 and up guys get the good programmers).

Hmm. I have located an 04, 07, and 08 (all 5.7 Hemi). All with engine, trans, computer(s), wiring harness/loom, and all belt driven acessories.

If I have all the necessary parts to complete a swap, and I cant reuse anything from my original motor and trans setup (4.7 powertech) except perhaps the transfer case, does it matter what year I get? Im not really a dodge guy, so correct me if I am wrong here....
I was under the impression that if you have the applicable motor, trans, wiring, and computer setup for doing a swap, the only things you have to worry about when it comes to compatability is the size of the engine bay, driveshafts, and engine mounts. Perhaps the strength of the rear end.

I don't think you will have any issues. I know it's been done before, even in Dakotas. You're on the right track from what I've researched. Make sure if you do it though do a write-up and inform us of how it goes.

Yeah, i'd like to know about this also. I wanted to swap my 03 ram 4.7 with the hemi 5.7. I wonder how hard it would be

One of us will eventually do it. I think you need the motor mounts from a hemi ram, the engine, you can use the existing tranny as far as I know along with the same front and rear diff. They didn't build them up anymore for the hemi motor being put in. Then you just need the ECU and engine wiring harness. This is what I've collected information wise.
