Default 0320 & 0700 Codes

2003 Ram 1500 V6 just hit 100,000 miles

During heavy rain 4 days ago the truck died and would not run. Tightened a loos positive battery terminal and got it running and to a friends house nearby. When we went to leave it would not run at all, the terminal was just too loose. Truck sat overnight, started in AM and we replaced bad terminal that night and started to drive it home. It died again in the drive, and would not restart, would turn over but not run. A very rich smelling exhaust was coming from pipe, was like a fog coming out of the pipe. Mobile mechanic came and got it running, pulled and cleared 0725, 0320, and 1299. Ran well in the drive, but did not drive it right away. Went to go home died again on the way, waited 5 minutes, got it started and got it home (4 miles distance). Engine came on again pulled 0320 and 0700. Tried to drive it today same thing all over. I'm thinking the heavy rain and large puddle splash has messed something up. Any ideas??

Mobile mechanic is saying I should just go to dealer because it is probably computer with water issues.

That was just some copy pasta, but I wouldn't think that your computer would get messed up over just some heavy rain...? People take their trucks mudding and through big *** puddles and nothing like that happens, so that doesn't really make sense to me, but what do I know.

The shorting could make sense though? Someone else will chime in eventually that knows more about this stuff. The forums get kinda slow during the day sometimes

crank position sensor right? they go on jeeps all the time. i would imagine its the same in the trucks. replace it. could also be the cam position sensor. same deal. the two work together to send a signal to the PCM. if one doesn't sent a signal engine shuts down....... i'd replace the CPS to start.......
0700 is a tranny thing. on some grand cherokees and stuff, its just a general fault code. on my grand i replaced the speed sensors on the transmission and they went away (545RFE tranny) no clue what your V6 tranny has. i've never seen an 03 up here in Canada with a V6.............

anyways, its a place to start

Thumbs down Problems solved...for now

Problems solved for now, both cam and crank sensors were replaced and truck is running great. This was after finding 3 melted ignition coils and a blocked up AIC motor. Now has a completer tune-up, F/I Service, and Throttle body cleaning. Would have had those done anyway for 100,000 servicing.

Now I am getting 2 codes I had all along before any of this.. P0420 and P0455. I know 0455 could be the gas cap, but that was replaced a while ago. I may have to have them look for the leak. I am going to try replacing the O2 sensors and see if that clears the 0420.

Thanks all for the advice!!
