Default Exhaust Leak and O2 Sensor

The past few days my engine light has been coming on and off, it used to do it all the time and the code said that is was just my fuel cap. But this time is different. I put new exhaust on and have yet to fully weld it in. I think that that is my problem but I figured I would get other opinions.

Everytime I go to make a stop and push my clutch in, my rpms drop, which is expected but they drop down to 500 or 400 rpms. Then it will bounce back up to about 800 then back down. And nine times out of ten, it will die. Now my question, Since I have not fully welded my exhaust yet and have some leakage, could that cause my O2 sensor to want to shut my truck down?

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

What did you do to your exhaust exactly...did you mess with the front o2's?
