Default Mega cab gas mileage

Folks,
I have a 2007 1500 Mega Cab Hemi that get 13 mpg that is all highway and 8.5 mpg while towing the toys. Other than an exhaust it is bone stock. Can someone give me some ideas on how to improve the gas mileage. I would also like to hear from other folks that had this issue and what they did about it.
Thank You

do what i do to save feul. go 55 mpg behind a big rig, if u can try to find the ones with the shiny rear gate so u can look at ur reflection while driving so u dont get bored thats what i do and i can get 24 mpg (about 120miles every 1/4 tank)

if that doesnt help then do plan B.

plan B) get an egg. then place the egg under your gas pedal. if you can drive without cracking the egg then you win

Man I wish I could help too; if they would have put the CTD in your truck and improved the AC - I would buy one maybe two in a heartbeat!

It's funny you mention A/C. It is horrible. I have noticed the air also comes from the floor board. I need to take it in to the dealer and have them look at it. My uncle has a late model dakota and it blows hard and cold.

If you turn the **** all of the way left, it blows 1/2 dash, 1/2 floor, you want to use the next notch to the right. Dash/recirculate for the best cooling. As for the mileage, you are on a heavier 2500 chassis with no MDS so it's not going to be great.

I don't know what the original economy rating was for your truck. My Hemi Quadcab 2wd with 20's and 3.92 gears is rated 13 city/19 hwy.

You won't get anywhere near 24 like VP64. A std cab is a lot lighter.
I can get 22.5 to 23 @ 55mph with my 93 octane tune with MDS on, but I get around 21 with the 93 octane setting and no MDS. Since 75% of my 32 mile drive to work is 70mph and hilly, and 25% is stop and go with many traffic lights, I still get about 17.5 avg. I'm quite happy with that.

Chips wont help. CAI wont help. Tuners wont help. Overall nothing will help. Our trucks are very well known for getting the worst gas mileage. Ford and Chevy and forgive me for saying, but even the imports get better mpgs. The best thing you can do it check that tire pressure and air filter and drive it easy. Keep in mind you are drving a truck that weighs in at 6-7k lbs and if you are a 4wd then you are a bit higher and catch wind more.

all right here is the deal. I have an 07.5' megacab. Love it but the mileage does suck. I have put the Bully dog triple tuner on it and the Vararam cai. I am also running a set of 315s on it with i beleive a 4.11 rearend. The hemi also has the mds (not much help). I had to detune from the premium tune to the mid when gas went back up. With the premium, seemed to run better and get a bit better mileage, actually noticed a difference. Right know with it set to mid and running regular i am getting around 11.5 to 12 mpg. If you are running stock tires keep them unless u want to watch the mileage go away quick. You could probably change out to a 4.56 gear see a difference. Maybe. Its kinda like this u didn't by the truck for economy, u bought it cause it is the biggest damn thing on the road. Man all that interior room is nice. I was definantly shocked at the milage when i drove it off the lot and started home. I used to have a 1500 reg. cab with the 4.7 was 15mpg easy. But had baby needed room and comfort and i always wanted one that was 4 wheel drive so i got it. The ctd would have been nice but a little to steep. Hope this helps in u'r quest to get more mileage!
